Filly’s Run (Manehatten night)
INTRO (spoken in a sinister voice, not sung) [jazz organ, sad chord progression] () = voice directions [] = instrumentation
I get up off my seat
Trot my usual beat
Prowling Manehatten’s streets
On the hunt for something sweet
Some lonely filly looking neat
Not aware she’s about to meet
The crafty city cretin
With a taste for the elite
I can sense the heat
And I’m looking to eat
And in the darkened city streets
I’ve found my latest treat (slower reading for emphasis)
VERSE ONE (slightly remorseful sounding) [acoustic guitar joins, single strummed chords]
She might think she’ll stop me
There’s nothing she can do
Thank Luna for the night
And thank Celestia too
Cause you know that plots like that
They’re far between and few
A single silent signal
They were on her ‘fore she knew
Muffled held and hidden
By the local motley crew
And I can’t help but smile
‘Cause I know that’s my cue (sinister sounding, evil chuckle) [snare roll]
CHORUS (confident, joyful) [jazzy drums and bass guitar join, acoustic guitar and jazz organ more lively than before]
I see those ponies rule the day
But at night I get my fun
See as soon as nighttime falls
Their time to shine is done
It’s when they pay for lives we live
When moon takes over sun
It’s worth the pain they cause us
Just to see those fillies run
VERSE TWO (coy sounding) [jazz organ leaves]
Now I’m sure that you deplore me
But just let me explain
If you could only see
Then you would do the same
Every bit they get
It comes straight from our pains
Pays for their blood mansions
And we’re left out in the rain
So we take back what’s ours (slightly angry)
We play our little games
We’re really all at fault
But we all focus the blame
CHORUS
VERSE THREE (menacing) [jazz organ leaves again]
Welcome to the homes of swine
It’s time to pay your bill
Favors are returned in kind
For every coffer filled
Now filly don’t you cry
You’ll escape us swill
But until then it seems
We have some time to kill
It’s better if you struggle [all but the acoustic guitar leaves]
But it’s best if you stay still
You already got your due
It’s time we got our fill
CHORUS
SHORT INTERLUDE [jazz organ solo]
So long from manehatten night (spoken not sung)
Hope you enjoyed your stay
But look out if I set my sights
There’s still debt left to pay! (livid)
CHORUS
How I love to see those fillies run! (manic)
*laughter*
ENDING
~FIN~
Something about emotions.
Hubble, bubble, trouble boils
Minds are swirling, hormones roil
Turns into an endless toil
Shadows make you your own foil
.
As the clouds do change and dance through sky
The inner chaos drives you by
Your own triumphant will to fly
And the sound of tearful lullabies
.
A constant state of constant change
With no control but still with blame
Trapped within a shortening range
Limits in a self induced game
.
And yet it’s clear they’re blessing still
Even though we fight and we kill
Every drop of blood we spill
Here’s the culprit that fits the bill
.
And yet it makes us live each day
Starts adventure and makes men pray
For something more to help us stay
Away from worlds of grey
.
A thought to every feeling burned
To lessons learned
And real life earned
And now for something with a little swing
Some say our lives
They need no fixing
They say that we are grand
.
And some say our lives
They’re so depressing
And everything is bland
.
Now some men they say
The world is failing
We must change it while we can
.
But ask me, I’ll say
There’s too much thinking
So I propose a plan
.
We’ll come together
To sing
And to drink
We’ll make like soldiers back from their lands
A joyful chorus
Will ring
As we think
Of all the ways we make to make our fair plans
.
To make our lives a part of something
A part of something new
To make our lives a part of something
Made up of me and yous
.
Now I ask you why
We worry so much
I wonder why we care
.
And I must ask why
We look for beauty
When it’s everywhere!
.
So tell me why
You run away from
Your own imagined scares
.
And I’ll tell you why
I sip my drink here
While the sirens blare
.
It’s because I know we’ll come together
And we’ll be in bliss
And should we go through stormy weather
We’ll just stop for a second and come back to this
.
We’ll come together
To sing
And to drink
We’ll make like soldiers back from their lands
A joyful chorus
Will ring
As we think
Of all the ways we make to make our fair plans
.
To make our lives a part of something
A part of something new
To make our lives a part of something
Made up of me and yous
.
We’ll sing this song in
Times of trouble
And we’ll rise so far
.
We’ll sing it again
When it’s better
And rise into the stars
.
And we’ll sing this song
We’ll sing together!
As long as you are mine
.
Yes we’ll sing this song
And sing forever
Straight to the end of times
.
For if we’re tired
And we’re weary
We can stop here
There’s no hurry
Cause there’s no need
To have a worry
When we have everything
.
Cause if even if the world conspires
To burn us together in eternal fires
Won’t matter at all as we expire
Cause we’ll still be together
And we’ll sing
.
Together we’ll sing
Forever we’ll sing
Always we will sing
Yes we’ll sing…
Sudden Meta Poem
A few more lines
In constant rhyme
With careful words
And rhythmic time
Flow comes first
Then truth sublime
Til half complete
With half to find
Completed by
A reader’s mind
A greater truth
By thought in kind
Is given, and found
But left behind
A thousand meanings
Still to find
A Thousand Years Alone
My story begins when daylight dims
Light snuffed out by this darkness of mine
Living in shadows of my sisters sin
I extended the darkness to all ponykind
But my gift was received with horrified screams
They were blind to the beauty of shadows sublime
And so they elected to send us away
For only in light could they see the divine
At first I wept for what I had left
For kingdom and sister I yearned
But with each passing day my anger it grew
A thousand years gone for one lesson to learn?
Damned be the fool who could be this cruel!
If this is their plan then for it they’ll burn!
It is they who deserve this great vengeful wrath!
For they send a pony and a nightmare returns!
A thousand years alone, here on my own
With so many hours to kill
Yet every day and every night
I’m plotting and planning still
And so at the cost of my sanity lost
I stand here and conjure the will
To take back what’s mine for eternal time
With darkness the sky shall be filled!
Forever the sky shall be filled.
Pain
Pain.
Festering, eternal pain.
You may try to change it.
But it will not go away.
Every day that passes
Shows you it’s here to stay
So you hide it deep inside you
And tell them it’s okay
As the actor lying still
Make them believe in what you say
But it’s still a lie.
A life in gray.
.
And underneath,
It festers still.
In the empty hours
With time to fill.
Happiness.
The terror is real.
And all you have
Is time to kill
Friend
Sing me a song
Oh fellow troubled soul
Tell me a tale
Give me a show
Tell me your tragedy
To lessen my own
And lend ear to mine
So my pain can be shown
Perhaps if we share
Our sorrows together
We can go through as one
And the storm will be weathered
And hopefully light will soon shine through
A shoulder to lean on and a friendship true
Patterns
I,
I
am
one
being.
Searches
Always for deep
thoughts. Patterns in our
lives to bring meaning to the meaningless
Though I wonder whether the meaning truly lies within the pattern
Or if I’ve given meaning by applying the pattern to the object. Perhaps there is no meaning at all. It depends.
You could say
That
The pattern has beauty
That
The meaning is irrelevant to
The beauty of the form. But beauty is subjective
But then, meaning is as well
Both rely
On perception of the audience
Where is constant meaning?
Everything has meaning to someone.
Each man
Will find his own way in life
And
His own meaning from that is found
Perhaps
We stop looking for one meaning
No
Universal truth to be found
A waste
To try to prove ourselves correct
Let us just live
And we shall all find our own one meaning.
First Steps
Just trying something new.
You crawl. You’ve always crawled, it’s all you’ve ever known, all you were ever capable of. So bestial, feral, dragging yourself from place to place on bare knuckles like you were still one of the apes. For a moment you stop to inspect your hands, they smell of the ground and filth you’ve moved through. They’re sticky and specked with various bits of unidentifiable stuff. They’re a reflection of the lowliness of your locomotion.
It’s been long enough, you decide. No more will you dirty your hands with the scum of the earth! No more will you suffer the shame, the perspective of a beast! You are human! You will stand! With a great push against the ground, and all your strength, you find yourself on two feet.
An overwhelming sense of vertigo overtakes you. The world wobbles and spins around you. You feel dizzy. Everything is unstable, unsure, unknown. Your perspective has changed entirely. Those things you were equal with you now tower above, and the things that tower above you still seem a little closer. Slowly, you find stable footing, and stay still. You’re atop a giant world, looking upon it, master of your domain. Delicately placed upon two small feet, standing proudly atop the world.
All of a sudden you’re falling. Perhaps it has an unfortunate shift in weight, perhaps an external interference with your balance, but it’s irrelevant as you see the unyielding earth rushing towards you. Your mind blanks out entirely, trying to comprehend a situation it’s never know, but your brain reacts quickly. Somewhere, deep and buried in the most feral and primal parts of your brain, where the great secrets of crawling and standing were formed, something twitches.
You throw a foot forward, catching yourself. Safety, for a split moment, but that deep unalterable force in your brain remains in control. Immediately you lift your other foot, your momentum throwing you forward and continuing your fall. Fear overtakes you and you catch yourself again, but you’re driven forward nonetheless, unstoppable. It’s so different from the crawling, or even standing. Instead of dragging yourself upon the earth, or proudly standing atop it, you are submitting to it’s will, letting the infinite falling overtake you and simply catching yourself again and again. It is constant motion, but you are not responsible for it, you are still as the universe drives you forward. For the first time you realize you’re in the control of, nay, one with this great universal power, letting it drive you forward as you simply try to catch yourself and survive.
You are perfectly still in constant motion, taking your first steps into a brave new world. A new perspective once again, one like standing, but humbler. The world is in control, and it will drive you. Simply keep moving forward, and most importantly, survive.
Nothing great. Decided I’d experiment with some off the cuff writing. This took 30 minutes typing on an iPod.
In Wonder
A darkened night and clouded sky
No stars or moon to guide me by
I walk and breathe a weary sigh
At what conspires beyond my sight
I think to things beyond these skies
Past our patient searching eyes
Without the binds of mortal ties
Controlling the fates that guide our lives
Not just the skies and seas and plains
More than winds and torrential rains
Every single happy day
And all our sorrows and all our pains
I look up and see how weak we are
I see we only reach so far
I’m stuck on ground, with roads and cars
Staring up at blazing stars
But though there’s little we can do
Our power is there and it is true
To those above we’re a motley crew
But I’m happy looking up with you
And as those skies are torn asunder
By cracks of lighting and roars of thunder
I’ll forget our worries and our blunders
I’ll sit with you and watch
In wonder
Fun fact, pretty much everything I write alludes to/blatantly rips off someone else’s work in one or two lines.
